Key to Success
So, what sets the Murray State University Rodeo Team apart from the rest? According to team members and coaches, the key to their success lies in their dedication, hard work, and camaraderie."We're a tight-knit team, and we all work together to support each other," says team captain, Emily Wilson. "We push each other to be our best, both in and out of the arena."
This team-first mentality is echoed by head coach, Jace Honeycutt. "Our team's success is a direct result of the dedication and perseverance of our athletes," he explains. "They're a talented group, but it's their work ethic and commitment to one another that truly sets them apart."
Competition and Training
The Murray State University Rodeo Team competes in a variety of events, including bull riding, bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, and barrel racing. To prepare for these events, team members engage in a rigorous training regimen that includes both physical conditioning and technical practice.
"We train year-round, with a focus on building strength, endurance, and agility," explains Coach Honeycutt. "We also work on developing our technical skills, such as roping and riding, through drills and practice sessions."
In addition to their individual training, the team also participates in simulated competitions and scrimmages to fine-tune their skills and build teamwork.
Community Involvement
The Murray State University Rodeo Team is deeply committed to giving back to their community. Through their "Rodeo for a Reason" initiative, the team partners with local organizations to raise money and awareness for various causes."We're proud to be able to use our platform to make a positive impact on our community," says Emily Wilson. "It's an important part of who we are as a team, and we're always looking for ways to get involved and give back."

Alumni Success
The Murray State University Rodeo Team has a long history of producing successful alumni, many of whom have gone on to compete at the professional level."We're proud of the accomplishments of our alumni, and we're always excited to see them succeed," says Emily Wilson.
